Advantages of upgraded systems (P-18/P-19)
- Significantly improved electrical parameters (radiation pattern, range, accuracy, target detection, etc.).

- Systems provide a wide range of options for obtaining radar information at relatively low acquisition costs. Thanks to the lower frequency band, targets can be detected on which radars operating in other bands do not respond, such as the invisible aircraft.
- Increased system stability and powerful interference suppression to avoid false messages while maintaining excellent target detection.
Antenna Unit P-19
Basic philosophy of the modernized system:
The new fully upgraded system is a continuing project of already delivered equipment. One of the remanufactured parts remains from the original remanufactured parts, which is the antenna system.
All old parts of the former Soviet radar are being replaced by new ones.
The upgraded system will be mounted on a new truck such as URAL (in tropical design), lifting and folding antennas are hydraulic, hydro pump motors are powered by batteries and thus independent of external power or generator power.
Two basic lifting heights of antenna systems will be chosen according to the customer‘s wishes.
On the base platform on the truck, for example, URAL, there will be a container in which the electronics of the antenna system and the radar technology will be installed.
- Antenna System – The original parabolic antennas will be remanufactured and mechanically repaired. In the final stage they will be treated with a new color for the tropical environment. For each antenna, its parameters will be measured (at the certified measuring station). The antenna parameters will be fully in accordance with the agreed technical conditions. If the customer is interested in developing and manufacturing new parabolic antennas, such a requirement is possible, but assuming a higher price.
- Reducer – A new gearbox of its own design with a new gear mechanism will be supplied. The transmission noise will be significantly reduced and the new system will be lighter than the original Soviet product.
- Main Band Irradiators – The main band irradiators will be completely new.
- HF Rotary Joint – The rotary joint is newly made. The original joint can also be used on customer request. However, it will be completely overhauled and the parameters measured before installation into the system.
- Block Phase Shifter – A brand new system that is fully compatible with the original Phase Shifter will be used.
- Encoder – An antenna system position sensing system and rotational speed detection system is solved by installing a new absolute encoder.
- Powerplant.
- Base Platform – a completely new base platform adapted to the desired truck will be developed.
- Hydraulic Lifting System – The lifting mechanism is designed as a hydraulic lift system with independent power supply. The customer sets two basic antenna heights.
- Ring Collector – A new ring collector will be placed in the reducer to transmit electrical voltage and data commands to devices located behind the gear mechanism.
- Container for control electronics and for radar blocks.
- Vehicle URAL (or another type according to the customer).
Antenna Unit P-18
Antenna unit consists from 16 directional Yagi antennas located in two rows, which are anchored to a deployable antenna mast. The antenna mast is positioned on the extended vehicle URAL (or another type according to the customer). The antenna unit can be customized, supplemented by other elements, sensors and antennas ECCM.
From the former original Soviet system do not use any element. All parts are made new.
- Antennas – Yagi antenna made according to original calculations (At the customer‘s request, it is possible to develop an antenna of other properties).
- The emplacement of antennas – the system is used for sequential ejection of antenna sections, controls the electric motor.
- Emplacement and Displacement of system (mast) – lifting of system using a hydraulic mast to a selected height.
- RF Coaxial Cable – All cables are used new main supply to the rotary coupling is provided by coaxial cable e.g. Eupen. By rotating the coupling to power dividers used also power coax e.g. Eupen. The individual antennas are used flexible cable companies HELIAX. Cables used for ECCM are special low attenuation cables, for example. LMR.
- Connectors – all connectors are new.
- Power Divider – developed as a new (new development by company NRTS CZ).
- Rotary Joint – used a new two-channel rotary joint.
- Reducer – is a completely new gearbox developed our own design of new transmission mechanism from company Rave.
- Ring Collector – in the reducer is placed new ring collector, own construction which transmits the voltage commands and data to devices located downstream of the transmission mechanism. Ring collectors is sufficiently sized pipelined.
- Encoder – the precise position sensing system and antenna rotation speed is solved by fitting an absolute encoder – encoder (the exact type will be selected according to the technical requirements of the customer).
- Staining System – the chosen paint system for corrosive environments C5M – corresponds to the area with high temperatures and high humidity.
- Power Supply and Control of hydraulic arms and control system.
All electronic blocks, including the power portion of the rotary antenna system located at the antenna unit is supplied from the accumulator source located on the antenna unit. This feed contains its own batteries, system voltage converters for each power level, cabinet with protective elements of the individual circuits, battery charging circuits, and command and control circuitry.
The second is a separate function block section providing management engine rotating antenna and processing information from sensors position – encoder.
The third functional unit comprises control circuitry, power elements drives hydraulic pump, the drive motor of the main antenna and the control panel of the system.
